VENICE
"The City of Water"
Venice was the 3rd city in our "Girls Trip". I have always wanted to visit Venice. It was gorgeous. We stayed on the island itself instead of dealing with the hassle of taking a ferry every day. That also allowed us to visit St. Marks Square before everyone else came. One sad part of Venice is that it is overrun by tourists and very hard to find authentic Venetian culture.
Below are some pictures to capture the beauty of Venice.

Little Bit of History of Venice
Venice was originally settled din the 5th century. It was a collection of 118 different islands. They were established as a province of the Byzantine Empire by people fleeing from the Barbarians. In the 11th century they received their independence. Venice had the 3rd highest population behind Rome and Paris at the time. The economy of Venice was mostly trade and ruled by merchants.
However in the 15th century Vasco da Gama found a route from Europe to India and therefore Venice was no longer the main trade Center.
in 1797 Napoleon came and ended the Republic of Venice after 1000 years.
In 1866 Venice joined the Kingdom of Italy.
